 The Banksia Gardens Study Group has been operating since 2005. Over the years, the program has experienced enormous growth and has gradually gained prominence to become one of the foundations of all youth programs at Banksia Gardens Community Centre. 

 

In its current form, the Banksia Gardens Study Group consists of three distinct programmes which focus on students with different needs.

 

All these programs share a common approach which recognises the need to combine academic support with sports and recreation activities and to encourage young people to connect with a wider learning community.

Regular Study Group

 - HOURS OF OPERATION:

- Tuesday, 4:00-6:00pm

- Wednesday, 4:00-6:00pm

- Friday, 4:00-8.00pm

- AGES: All primary and secondary students welcome!

Aiming High VCE Support Programme*

HOURS OF OPERATION:

- Thursday, 4:00-6:00pm

- The Age Library, Broadmeadows

- AGES: Year 11 and 12 students

COST: FREE!

Bring the Gardens to the Valley Programme*

HOURS OF OPERATION:

- Thursday, 3:00-4:30pm

- Hume Valley School, Broadmeadows

- AGES: Both primary and secondary

COST: FREE!

Funding bodies

 

The Banksia Gardens Study Group is receives contributions from a number of institutions, which are listed below:

 

- Victorian Department of Education - through the Learning Beyond the Bell Program managed by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY).

- The Communities for Children initiative at Hume/Broadmeadows site. Communities for Children is funded by the Australian Government under the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy through the Department of Family, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
