Introduction to Sustainability ES007/008

The starting point of this introductory course is an exploration of the main environmental challenges facing Australia and Victoria, and the possible solutions for some of these challenges. The different fields within the environmental sustainability sector, such as energy, waste and water are discussed in detail together with alternatives for further studies and professional options in the sector.

The course discusses a different environmental field each week. In each field we look at the issue from a world wide and Australian perspective. Then we discuss some of the practical measures you can use in your home to lessen your environmental impact, and to reduce on-going costs.

This course is targeted at people considering a career in the sustainability field. It also provides residents, the community and businesses an overview of environmental issues and actions that can be undertaken to reduce costs and impact on the environment.
